Hank Pym’s Ant Man Was The Real First Avenger

The Ant Man Mantle

In the wildly successful film Ant-Man, we learn that long before Scott Lang wore the suit, it belonged to Dr. Hank Pym. Through the course of the movie, we see that Pym has been operating as Ant Man for several years. Being that Captain America – The First Avenger is set during the fight against the Nazis, it begs a question. Could Pym’s Ant Man have been active during the same time? Could the Ant Man have been around all along?

 Photographic Proof

The single most convincing piece of evidence to support this theory is the video presented by the villain Darren Cross. As he tries to woo potential investors for his Yellowjacket suit, Cross shows a video that documents Pym’s time in the Ant Man suit. The footage shows it’s age in how old and grainy it is. Since it’s so old, it stands to reason that it could be from a World War archive. This would place Pym’s Ant Man right in the mix with Captain America.

Why Wouldn’t We Know?

That’s the question, right? If the Ant Man is helping Cap kick Hydra butt, why haven’t we heard about it by now? After all, when Steve Rogers survives the super soldier treatment that makes him Captain America, he becomes a poster boy for supporting the war. I don’t know about you, but if I was at war with Hydra and the Nazis, and I had a super soldier, I wouldn’t have him selling war bonds…Unless he’s not my only super soldier. Just look at Cap and Ant Man. Clearly, the image and name of Captain America is a better sell than Pym’s hero. Maybe the reason we didn’t hear about this is just because of marketing.

The Old Reliable, “It’s Classified.”

Another reason for all the secrecy could be that the Pym particle and it’s use would be classified. If Uncle Sam had a soldier like Ant Man in the theater of war with ridiculous, dare I say unbelievable abilities, it would be for top secret operations. Also, knowing that the Red Skull was searching for otherworldly power to sway the tide of the war, it would make sense to keep Dr. Pym’s extracurricular activities under wraps. Why not do the same for Captain America? Simple. The Red Skull and Cap both spawn from the same experimental program. The Red Skull already knew the program existed, so there was nothing to keep secret.

In Short

That’s all it takes to support our Reel Theories about Ant Man. Dr. Hank Pym could easily have been active during the time of Captain America, the so called, “First Avenger” because there’s compelling photographic proof that he would’ve been a government secret that looked worse than Captain America with technology that needed to be kept away from Hydra. Yeah, it sounds silly when you say it like that, doesn’t it? Still, the concept does hold water. And bear in mind, this is without serious mention to Hank’s key chain. At the end of the film Ant-Man, Hank Pym reveals that the tank on his key chain is, in fact, a real tank that he miniaturized. One good look at it and you see it’s a world war era tank. And boom goes the dynamite, mic drop, etc.
