Thanos Can’t Handle Shots!
Infinity War was an amazing movie. And who wasn’t crushed by that ending? If only the heroes could’ve found a way to stop Thanos. If only they had some sort of thing that could’ve destroyed The Mad Titan before he could carry out his maniacal plan.
Oh, wait… They did.
Now, there is a plethora of ways that the myriad of heroic characters in Infinity War could’ve stopped Thanos from achieving his goal of “the snap.” Today let’s focus on just one of the options that were available to them.
The year was 2013.
I now ask you to journey back with me to the far flung reaches of Iron Man 3. Remember? Tony’s suit is all jacked up in that kid’s barn. The Mandarin is at large. The Mandarin is a drunken sports fan. Ole’! Ole’, ole’, ole’!! Crazy people in an experimental program are exploding. To top things off, Aldrich Killian (the real villain) has injected Pepper Potts with the very thing that’s been making people blow up, the Extremis Virus! By the end of the movie, Tony destroys all his suits and vows to fix Pepper up good as new.
So, yeah… Think about that for a minute. Tony has access to the Extremis Virus. The brilliant billionaire industrialist who ran a global weapons manufacturing company has a virus that can kablooey folks, and I’m expected to believe he didn’t weaponize it? It stands to reason that somewhere in Iron Man’s arsenal there’s a hypodermic syringe ready to deliver a dose of Extremis.
Meanwhile, on Titan
The third Avengers movie gave us a ton of characters and some intense action sequences. A great one was when Iron Man and company fight alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy to try and un-infinity gauntlet our villain. Just like Star-Lord had Dr. Strange open a portal for him to plant a bomb, Stark should’ve had Dr. Strange pop open a portal next to Thanos just long enough to make him go viral, Extremis style. Iron Man could’ve hit Thanos with a needle and ended the whole thing right then and there. See? I got back to the whole, “shot” thing.
